Since 2005 I have had the privilege to nurture my career as a Senior Graphic & Website Designer for The Corporate Communications Department at Security Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York. Working at Security Mutual Life with the Corporate Communication Department team has been one of the most exciting opportunities I have ever had the honor of being a part of.
When you can wake up in the morning and are proud of what you do and the company you work for it makes you feel as though you are making a difference in this world. Below is a small sample of my work at SML over the years which also reflects what can be achieved when working with a talented and focused team of communication specialists.
Security Mutual 125 Year Anniversary History Book and Bookmark
During the company’s 125 Anniversary I was on the committee that was tasked with planning a year long series of public and internal promotional events, celebrations, and gifts to promote this grand milestone. My favorite Corporate Communications Department collaborative project commissioned by the planning committee was this 125th Anniversary Hostory Book.
The most exciting part of the project for me was working with the miniting compay to design and produce the bookmark. This was delivered to all Securiity Mutual Employees as a celebratory gift and commemorative keepsake.
Letter To Policyholder
One of many Letter to Policyholder cover designs I have produced throughout my career as a Graphic Designer at Security Mutual Life. This partiular cover is special due to the out-of-the-ordinary format. The cover also showcases a stunning panoramic image of the company’s historic lobby that I photographed and edited specifically for this cover.
President’s Cabinet
One of our Coporate Communication Department’s flagship projects each year is a collabortive effort with several company stakeholders including our Agency and Marketing Departments. The event is called President’s Cabinet. This prestigious annual event is only available to qualified agents who are invited to various memorable places and venues throughout the world for an elite conference gathering.
The award winning design you see here was designed, printed, folded and produced all in-house for each of the hundreds of agents invited. This allows us to create custom pieces that compliment all other event marketing and educational materials necessary to support such a renowned annual event of this caliber.
Pillars of the Community
I always enjoy spotting my work “in the wild”. This project was an exciting collaborative sponsorship that involved coordination with local Government Officials and the Commissioner of Aviation to display first-class business sponsors at the Greater Binghamton Airport. This piece also highlights the importance of understanding the audience and the environment in which a design will be displayed, perceived and experienced to maximize the marketing message.

Security Mutual Life Website
This responsive website is the public facing website for Security Mutual Life so it is important to put our best foot forward. It was re-designed on a CMS WordPress foundation that allowed for better responsive design, flexibility, and adaptability for future growth and change, while keeping the content management and approval process workflows in mind.
ADA compliance and usability are key factors in the success of this website. In addition, I am the architect and lead syndication support for the company’s podcast, “SML Minute” which is published weekly. I am also tasked with the ongoing website maintenance, security, and server support for the site.
Security Administrators, Inc. Website
This is another responsive website for Security Administrators, Inc., which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Security Mutual Life. This website is built on a CMS WordPress foundation that allowed for better responsive design and flexibility while keeping the content management and approval process workflows in mind.
ADA compliance and usability are key factors in the presentation of this website. I am also tasked with the ongoing website maintenance, security, and server support that is necessary to keep this site online.
